Our military-inspired waxed cotton jacket

2 min read

Simple, effective and… waterproof. Introducing our English waxed cotton jacket! From military inspiration to the choice of press studs, everything has been considered to create a practical, useful and easy-to-wear piece.

Why did we work on such a piece? We wanted a jacket you could put on even when it is not raining, one capable of protecting us from the rain with elegance. So that is what we set out to do. And the result is there!

There was no question of turning to a synthetic material that never seems to adapt to the body and blows away at the slightest gust of wind... No, we wanted a fabric with structure, one you can wear feeling protected from the elements, one you can rely on. So we turned to the waxed cotton expert: British Millerain. Yes, you read that correctly.

Since 1880, the English textile manufacturer has built a reputation that has never faltered. Quality, durability and innovation have made, and continue to make, its name known around the world. Our waxed cotton is made by a workshop with impeccable craftsmanship; with a weight of 230g/m2, it has a very pleasing structure. There, the cotton is densely woven before a fine layer of wax is applied to make it rain-resistant.

We feel the need to restore genuine purpose to clothing. While this need runs through our entire collection, it is especially embodied in our waxed cotton jacket. A waterproof fabric in a timeless khaki green that does not show dirt. Large pockets and a stand collar. A regular fit.

Let us go into more detail. The cut is clean and roomy enough to accommodate a flannel jacket or chunky knitwear. We added a back vent to allow greater freedom of movement.

The stand collar was designed to keep out as much wind as possible and retain the body's natural warmth in cool weather. We added 2 horn buttons for fastening. The placket is closed with a rectangular zip (YKK) directly inspired by military garments, and reinforced with press studs all the way down.

The cuffs are highly practical, with press-stud adjustment tabs and a gusset that keeps the wind out while retaining some structure when the tabs are undone. Traditional darts have been sewn into the sleeves to follow the natural shape of the elbow.

Finally, the pockets are numerous and generously deep. Two gusseted side pockets with double entry: one top-entry pocket with a flap for storing everything, the other on the outer side for slipping in your hands. On the chest, a discreet zip pocket (also YKK).

Why no hood? Is it not more elegant to wear a hat or carry an umbrella? That was our view. We can discuss it!

In short, this jacket, like our military-inspired shirt, reaffirms our ambition to offer essential garments with the best value for money. Its versatility makes it an essential piece, with a vintage spirit that feels current while remaining classic. Our speciality. Do you like it?
