Shirt collar stiffeners come in various materials, thicknesses, lengths, and widths. You can find them in metal, brass, stainless steel… and even wood. At Hast, we have chosen to add a luxurious touch to this sartorial accessory by offering mother-of-pearl versions. Engraved with the Hast logo, each collar stiffener is designed to fit seamlessly into our shirts with semi-cutaway collar and point collars. Sliding a stiffener into a shirt collar is effortless, whatever the fabric: in poplin, in twill… Here is how it works: • Lay your shirt flat facing you; • Lift the collar point; • Insert the mother-of-pearl shirt collar stiffener into the slot provided, making sure to push the tip as far as it will go; • Check that the stiffener is firmly in place: it should not move. Then simply repeat the process with the other stiffener.
Removable collar stiffeners are far more durable than built-in ones, provided they are properly cared for. To ensure they keep their shape and lustre over time, be sure to remove them before each wash and iron. After wearing them a few times, you can wipe them with water and a cloth to remove any traces of perspiration. Allow them to dry before returning them to your shirt collar.
