Hast x Nona Source, Acte II

Hast x Nona Source, Act II

6 min read

Last November, we proudly presented the result of an exceptional collaboration with Nona Source, a platform dedicated to revaluing deadstock fabrics from the Maisons of the LVMH group.

Six months later, we team up once again with this leading name in French creative circularity to unveil a new capsule collection centred on responsibility, craftsmanship and quality.

In the spotlight: 7 exclusive creations where ethics meet luxury, all crafted from precious fabrics typically reserved for Haute Couture.

Nona Source, or the art of awakening sleeping beauties

Founded in 2021, the Nona Source platform gives luxury deadstock a second life by offering industry players exceptional materials left dormant by the grand Maisons of the LVMH group.

A pioneer in upcycling, Nona Source breathes new life into premium fabrics stored in Couture Houses' warehouses, enabling designers to source exceptional materials more affordably while notably reducing their environmental footprint.

In the words of its co-founders, "this commitment stems from a profound ambition to legitimise deadstock materials as a sourcing alternative, with the aim of driving a cultural shift in the future of fashion."

A vision we fully identify with, as it combines sustainability, eco-consciousness and the celebration of artisanal heritage.

Hast x Nona Source, the chronicle of a foretold romance

Without a shadow of a doubt, there is a natural affinity between Hast and Nona Source.

For us, having championed noble fibres, fine fabrics and quality knits for over 10 years; working alongside a company dedicated to upcycling the finest fabrics on the market felt like a natural choice.

Echoing the partnership forged in late 2024, this new collaboration reaffirms a shared passion for fine craftsmanship, embodied on this occasion by the very finest textiles.

The Hast x Nona Source capsule collection

With introductions made, let us delve straight into the heart of the Hast x Nona Source capsule. Gentlemen, here are the 7 exceptional pieces we are offering in limited editions:

  1. Tussah silk canvas jacket

The discreet offspring of the work jacket and the safari jacket, this standout piece blends utilitarian and military influences into a truly distinctive hybrid. Beyond its three patch flap pockets, its internal drawstring accounts for most of its appeal: from a regular fit with workwear influences, you can cinch the waist for a fitted, field-jacket silhouette.

As for its textured grain, which easily rivals the finest tweeds, it is an “irregular canvas” woven from pure Tussah silk. Unlike Bombyx silkworms that feed on mulberry leaves, Tussah silkworms feed on oak leaves, producing a silk thread renowned for its strength.

Woven in Italy, the rolls of fabric we sourced from Nona Source feature a matte finish and a raw texture that differ greatly from the silky feel usually associated with this natural fibre. Paired with a beautifully heathered crème brûlée shade, this unique hand gives the jacket remarkable depth and rare character.

  1. The wool and silk radzimir jacket

Same cut, new material: the second jacket in the Hast x Nona Source capsule collection shares the design of its predecessor but is crafted from an entirely different cloth. Here, a 57% wool and 43% silk Radzimir replaces the canvas, lending the garment a distinctly more lustrous feel.

Indeed, Radzimir favours lustre over texture, using relatively fine yarns, an even weave and a dense structure to give pride of place to the radiant sheen of silk. Crafted in a sumptuous emerald green, it catches the light beautifully and reveals a truly striking depth of colour.

Present in virtually equal measure, wool and raw silk combine their respective qualities to elevate this statement piece: durability, breathability and structure on one hand; drape, lustre and refinement on the other. A true masterclass in balance.

  1. The pure wool Gurkha trousers

The first trousers from this new collaboration with Nona Source, the Gurkha is directly inspired by the uniforms of the Nepalese regiments after which it is named. For this edition, we took the liberty of giving it a sharper sartorial feel, featuring a 6 cm waistband, a deep pressed crease down the leg, and two sets of pleats.

In the same way, we opted for a more generous cut than traditional models, with a straight leg and a 20.5 cm leg opening at the ankle. A way to bring a more modern, urban feel to this two-century-old garment straight out of military operations.

In this fuller, more formal version, the Gurkha stands out as a prime alternative among elegant legwear. Even more so as ours features a grey wool tricotine woven in Japan, promising fluid drape and an impeccable hang. The pinnacle of elegance.

  1. The Hollywood trousers in hopsack linen and lyocell

In another vein, the second pair of trousers in this capsule is just as distinctive. These are dropped belt loop trousers, or “drop loop trousers” for connoisseurs. In recent years, another moniker has circulated among sartorial tailoring enthusiasts: Hollywood trousers. Unsurprisingly, they owe this name to the popularity of the style across the film industry in the post-WWII era.

As you can see, its distinctive character comes from these rather low belt loops. A rare and iconic detail that we chose to revive to give these trousers a relaxed, effortless flair. Enhanced by a loose fit, double pleats, a sharp crease along the leg and a 5 cm turn-up at the ankle, they represent the ultimate synthesis of tradition and modernity.

Thanks to Nona Source, we were able to craft this piece in a sensational fabric: a 420 g/m² grey basketweave, made in Italy for a renowned Couture House from linen (70%) and lyocell (30%) fibres. An invitation to experience true luxury through an all-natural fabric of great character, beautifully structured yet exceptionally fluid.

  1. The cotton poplin popover shirt

A centrepiece of the Hast wardrobe, the shirt has been our signature since 2012. It naturally deserved pride of place in our second collaboration with Nona Source, brought to life here in this popover design in cotton poplin.

Paired with a smooth, supple 130 g/m² fabric, its unique design blurs boundaries by effortlessly combining sportswear ease with formal elegance. Indeed, it brings together the hallmark cloth of formal shirts and sporting influences (such as a polo shirt-style half-placket, a straight split hem and a back box pleat). Complete with a perfectly balanced point collar, fine black stripes on a white ground and mother-of-pearl buttons, it delivers a subtle blend of refinement, finesse and versatility.

  1. The Sea storm cotton twill short-sleeved shirt

We remain in the world of fine shirting here, but take a sharp turn towards casual style: our short-sleeved cotton twill shirt embodies a distinct touch of Riviera-inspired summer elegance.

Naturally, it features all the signatures of a modern short-sleeved shirt, starting with the iconic Cuban collar, a relaxed fit, a lightweight fabric (143 g/m²) and a chest patch pocket. In addition, we offer a distinctive "Sea storm" shade, exquisite cross-stitched blue mother-of-pearl buttons and a rich cotton twill certified by the Better Cotton Initiative—an international standard that guarantees good working conditions and production adhering to integrated farming principles.

Loose and comfortable, this shirt offers great ease of movement, perfect for a casual chic style.

  1. The green cotton twill short-sleeved shirt

Same design, new colourway. For summer, we bring you another short-sleeved shirt in cotton twill, dyed in a new shade and crafted from a lighter fabric. Here, spruce green replaces storm blue, and a 125 g/m² Italian twill takes over from the 143 g/m² version. A finer yet equally comfortable iteration, offering great freedom of movement and optimal breathability.
