Launched last month with the Alba Nuova selection, we reveal the rest of our spring–summer 2025 collection through a brief ode to idleness.
On this sun-drenched escape, you will discover pieces of understated luxury designed for the warmest months of the year. Airy fabrics, natural materials and soft tones weave together a tribute to an indolence elevated to an art of living. Gentlemen, the HAST team is pleased to present its Dolce Farniente selection .
A manifesto for summer elegance
In summer, cultivating refinement is no easy choice. With the heat offering little help, men often opt for convenience, dressing in the perennial shorts/T-shirt duo. Yet a wealth of alternatives exists, simply waiting to flourish in the warmth of fine days.
Lightweight trousers, unstructured jackets, airy knitwear and other lightweight shirts vie in ingenuity to fend off the heat while remaining elegant; and this is the spirit we have infused into the Dolce Farniente collection.
Between a reimagined tailoring heritage and the inspiration of Riviera , this collection, a manifesto for summer elegance, reveals a wardrobe designed to savour fine days with style and lightness.
Dolce Farniente , the art of effortless ease
In Italian, « far niente » literally means « to do nothing » . A programmatic expression that invites idleness while wholly rejecting the idea of laziness. At heart, it is neither apathy nor idleness, but rather a state of awareness, a disposition of mind, an accomplished form of being present in the world.
The dolce far niente is not idleness. It is sensitivity. Openness. Receptiveness to the gentleness of the world. More than a concept, it is a philosophy: the one that animates the pieces before your eyes.
Light, spirited, desirable, our shirtsimmerse you in this candid atmosphere where elegance and ease meet and merge.
Airy, distinctive, generous, our suits evoke a luxury unafraid of sunburn. A special distinction, poised between the art of tailoring and the customary languor of the summer season.
Breathable, responsibly made and beautifully textured, our work jackets crown, in their own way, this art of living where time evaporates , where light caresses, where elegance reclines without letting itself go.
Flowing or vibrant, ethereal or substantial, absorbent or openwork, understated or eccentric, our shorts, trousers , polo shirts , swimwear and terry knitwear speak only of this love for a free, fresh and playful elegance.
The pleasure of the senses
True to our principles, we have brought the finest natural materials to bear on our new collection with this « Dolce Farniente » composition.
Libeco linen, organic cotton, Tencel and cool wool thus adorn our creations with remarkable fabrics of exceptional hand. Worked into knitwear or woven fabric, these noble fibres lend their valuable properties to the garments they clothe, whether in terms of softness, suppleness, lightness or thermoregulation.
For their part, the cuts have also been designed to follow your movements without restricting them. The short-sleeved shirts are straight-cut, the work jackets reasonably roomy, the suits generously cut and the shirts spacious. Like this selection, the pieces in question evoke ease and independence.
The centrepiece: our Libeco linen suit
The jewel of our spring–summer collection and the perfect embodiment of the Dolce Farniente spirit, the Libeco linen suit is unquestionably the standout piece of the season.
Designed for special occasions, it brings together exceptional raw materials, prestigious fabric, extraordinary craftsmanship and irresistible style.
And with good reason, its cloth comes directly from the workshops of Libeco, a Belgian institution of international renown that has worked with linen since 1858. To give you an idea, the House has been awarded the prestigious Royal Warrant of the Belgian Court, recognising it as an official supplier to the Royal Family. A mark of excellence akin to the renowned Royal Warrants of Appointment issued in the United Kingdom.
With a weight of 295 gr/m² , this master cloth is light enough to be worn in the height of July, while retaining a crisp, clean drape. Behind it, a Portuguese partner has crafted the suit with no little mastery. Half-canvas construction, 8.5 cm notched lapels, twin back vents, kissing buttons at the cuffs, barely padded shoulders, flap welt pockets, double-pleated trousers: at first glance, you recognise every detail inspired by tailoring and appreciate the maker's level of expertise.
A distinguished suit to wear as a matching set or separately, for summer ceremonies and less formal occasions.
A final word
« And when I am weary I let myself drift into sleep,
To the murmur of water made to sigh by a pebble,
Where I hear the warbler singing beside me,
And there, high in the azure, the lark sings. »
It is with this sonnet that Théophile Gautier concludes, in 1832, his poem entitled « Far niente ». And the least we can say is that it contains everything: indolence and delicacy, softness and contemplation, presence and escape.
It is about nature and light, of course; it is obviously about summer, gentleness and tranquillity; but above all else, it is about presence. The poet describes the subtle art of living in the moment, of quietly savouring the delights of the here and now, and of celebrating those fleeting minutes when Beauty reveals itself. With our Dolce Farniente proposal, it is this inclination towards a higher form of tenderness that we have sought to clothe.
Between tradition and modernity, Hast crafts a collection more considered than ever, for men who are just the same.
