A material with many qualities
The countless qualities of cotton need no introduction. First and foremost, it is among the most comfortable of all fabrics. Lightweight and airy, it can be worn in any situation, in town, in the countryside or for sport. Above all, the cotton T-shirt is very low-allergenic, especially when organic. It is a fabric that does not itch and can be worn like a second skin. Another quality, closely linked to the previous one, is ease of washing. Cotton can be machine-washed at 30 or even 40 without issue (read the label before machine washing), making it easy to eliminate bacteria.
What is more, it irons easily with a hot iron and, if hung properly after washing, can even be worn without ironing. It is therefore a soft, comfortable material, equally suited to wearing as an underlayer in winter or as a garment in summer.
Quality: our absolute priority
While the advantages of the cotton T-shirt are countless, it is nevertheless important that it meets a number of essential quality criteria. The first of these is thickness. The
fabric weight fabric must be both sufficiently thick and light enough to combine durability and breathability. Indeed, you have probably noticed that T-shirts from fast fashion tend to ripple, lose their shape (especially around the collar) and fade after just a few washes. This is because the industry has gradually reduced the T-shirt’s weight, making it extremely thin and transparent. At Hast, we have therefore opted for 160g / m², the ideal weight for a hard-wearing cotton T-shirt that remains lightweight and comfortable. We have also paid particular attention to the ribbed crew neck, to ensure it retains its shape over time.
Responsible manufacturing
Our T-shirts are in keeping with our environmental commitments, meeting the criteria of the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards) label. It ensures that the environmental and social conditions of manufacturing are as responsible as possible. Above all, our cotton T-shirt is organic, and therefore pesticide-free. As a final touch, our T-shirts are made in Portugal, so they do not travel halfway around the globe before reaching your wardrobe.
How to wear a cotton T-shirt?
It is precisely this versatility that makes the cotton T-shirt so indispensable. Worn with a
chinos and a
jacket lightweight, it is an excellent alternative to a shirt for a smart casual look. Under a
jumper or a cardigan in winter, it becomes a comfortable layer that lets the skin breathe. In summer, it stands on its own, paired with linen shorts or lightweight cotton trousers. A good cotton T-shirt also helps structure a minimalist look: white with raw denim, black with straight beige trousers, ecru under an overshirt.
