Nos matières estivales : belles au naturel

Our summer materials: naturally beautiful

Read time 5

Since 2012, our love of beautiful materials has fueled a relentless quest for the right fiber, the right thread, and the right fabric . Year after year, collection after collection, we have continued to explore the wonderful world of textiles to adorn our creations with the richest knits and the most carefully studied fabrics. Our goal? To create exceptional clothing for your everyday life.

At the crossroads of innovation and responsibility, this requirement is felt once again this season, with a spring-summer 2025 catalog that is not lacking in new products.

If you have nothing more important to do in the next 5 minutes, we invite you to dive into the world of our most beautiful materials.

Naturally tasty fabrics

For once, it takes more fingers than a hand to count the exceptional materials that illuminate our Alba Nuova and Dolce Farniente capsules . Therefore, we invite you to review them one by one and in alphabetical order:

  1. The Giro d'Italia

On the other side of the Alps, our Italian friends call it “Giro Inglese” or “nido d'ape” (beehive). Between you and me, the second expression is clearer because it explicitly evokes the honeycomb structure that characterizes this fabric.

Moreover, it is this particular weave that makes the Giro Inglese so pleasant in summer. In fact, it is not one but two warp threads that are used to weave this fabric, the second passing sometimes to the left and sometimes to the right of the first to form its famous cells.

There are two advantages to this: its embossing moves the fabric away from the skin to promote air circulation and the openness of its fabric gives it breathability, which is beneficial in summer.

If you're looking for it, you'll find it on our short-sleeved shirt , our white shirt , and our officer collar shirt .

  1. Libeco linen

Founded in 1858, the Belgian company Libeco has been an international reference specializing in linen work for over 160 years.

Based in the heart of the "linen region", a geographical area which extends from Normandy to the Netherlands via Flanders, it supplies prestigious fabrics whose reputation is now worldwide.

Thanks to its geographical roots and centuries-old expertise, Libeco has elevated linen weaving to the status of an art. For the first time this season, we had the opportunity to drape two suits and a work jacket in it, combining the beauty of this fabric with all the properties of linen fiber (insulation, thermoregulation, absorption, strength, eco-responsibility, and tenderness with the skin).

  1. The Métis

On paper, métis is simply the technical name for a cotton-linen fabric. If ours has a capital “M”, it’s because it comes from the workshops of Manufacture Métis , a French company based in Burgundy-Franche-Comté.

For the second year in a row, we have collaborated with its founder, Cédric Plumey, to create a capsule collection using a material woven entirely in France. A commitment to French textile craftsmanship that is now embodied in a two-piece suit in 55% linen and 45% cotton , developed specifically for Hast on shuttle and rapier looms manufactured between 1892 and 1985.

A suit that pays homage to the art of tailoring as well as to the richness of lovingly crafted natural fibers.

  1. Ripstop

Closely linked to the invention of nylon in the 1930s, ripstop became known when the US Air Force decided to use it to cover the parachutes of its airborne units. Literally meaning “stop tears,” this plain weave features a reinforcing thread at regular intervals, giving it its characteristic grid pattern. In practice, this reinforcement system prevents a small snag from turning into a tear.

Tested and approved by US Army paratroopers, ripstop was then recycled in other areas , effectively covering tent canvases as well as sleeping bags, ship sails, tarpaulins, flags and uniforms.

This season, it appears on the front of our new overshirt and a new work jacket , putting its performance science at the service of your look and your daily life.

  1. Seaqual ®

Obtained by the revaluation of plastic collected in the oceans, Seaqual® is a recycled polyester whose raw material comes from waste collected at sea by fishermen, associations and NGOs. Once processed, it can be used to create fabrics with properties similar to those of conventional polyester (lightness, durability and quick drying), with a significantly lower carbon footprint. A coherent alternative that combines technicality and responsibility, while preserving our promise of a 100% natural or recycled wardrobe.

This summer again, we have trusted Seaqual® to develop unsinkable swimsuits . With their short, straight cut, they are as effective in the water as they are on dry land, making them a trio of completely amphibious allies from a stylistic point of view.

  1. Tencel

A man-made material produced from wood pulp, Tencel (also known as lyocell®) is one of the most innovative and sustainable fabrics available today. Adored for its fluidity, soft hand, and silky feel, it's a great alternative to viscose.

Extremely breathable and particularly lightweight, we have selected it to dress up a short-sleeved shirt and a striped shirt , two pieces with sleeves tailored for summer. The ultimate combination of elegance, versatility and lightness.

The final word

Can we even conclude this article on our finest materials without mentioning our new collaboration with Nona Source? The answer is no.

This season, your servants and the platform dedicated to the valuation of dormant stocks of the LVMH group's Houses are playing the second act of a partnership that began in November 2024 and are once again offering you 7 exceptional pieces.

Three shirts, two pairs of trousers and two jackets made from precious fabrics sourced from the warehouses of the greatest French and Italian fashion houses.

Tussah silk canvas, wool and silk radzimir, linen and lyocell woven fabric, cotton twill and poplin: the most refined fabrics are brought together in this unique collaboration, with pieces produced in just a few dozen copies.

A declaration of love for natural fibers, noble materials and creative circularity, which we invite you to discover without delay on our website and in our stores .
