A year after our first joint project, this season we are performing Act 2 of a remarkable collaboration between Hast and the Franche-Comté-based Manufacture Métis.
Proud of the enthusiasm generated by the last edition, we have chosen to repeat the experience by offering lovers of beautiful materials a strong tribute to French artisanal know-how.
On the menu, an exhilarating double-breasted suit made from 100% French linen-cotton fabric.
Cotton wedding anniversary for Hast and the Manufacture Métis
Last spring at the same time, we unveiled a capsule collection between your servants and Manufacture Métis . You may remember that it took the form of a two-piece set consisting of a work jacket and pleated trousers crafted in a prodigious fabric of 55% cotton and 45% linen.
A year later, celebrating our cotton wedding anniversary, so to speak, we are doing it again and once again combining our passion with that of the French House. A second episode in the form of confirmation , renewing a common commitment in favor of French textile craftsmanship and repeating our love for noble fibers, expressive natural materials and authentic know-how.
Manufacture Métis, a young shoot of French textile heritage
As its online presentation soberly indicates , “Manufacture Métis is a French weaving workshop created in 2016 by Cédric Plumey” .
By meeting Cédric, we met a professional obsessed with quality, but also, and above all, a passionate person like few others. Based in his native lands in the Doubs department, it is as an artist and craftsman that he lovingly weaves armor with extraordinary cachet ; among the most beautiful we have seen in some 13 years of career.
As its name suggests, the Manufacture Métis weaves “métis” fabrics, that is, weaves of cotton and linen combined in different proportions depending on the desired effect. More or less cotton to enhance the softness and silkiness of the fabric, more or less linen to emphasize its robustness, texture, and absorption capacity.
For almost 10 years, it is this poetry that Cédric Plumey and his team have been composing in warp and weft ; finding their lyricism in the richness of the selected natural fibers, the thickness of the threads used, their tension, their composition and the subtle art of their interweaving.
More than a skill, it is an art that mobilizes discipline and sensitivity, rigor and intuition, method and instinct. A conscious and responsible, patient and passionate technique, which has not failed to strike a chord with us. .
Manufacture Métis, heir to a glorious past
They say the best jam is made in old jars. Cédric Plumey understood this and set about collecting, repairing, and renovating machines straight from the golden age of the now-deteriorated French textile industry.
To transform the thread into fabric, the Manufacture Métis can count on two winding machines from the 1970s and a sectional warping machine from 1907; while the weaving part is carried out by shuttle and rapier looms manufactured between 1892 and 1985.
Just like the cane weavers, shuttles, bobbins, rapiers and even dobbies, these machines - some of which are a hundred years old - have been meticulously renovated, modified and modernized to weave armors in 2025, haloed with the charm of yesteryear.
Hast x Manufacture Métis, the return
After an exciting first collaboration, we are once again joining forces with Manufacture Métis for an enchanted interlude.
On the sidelines of our new Dolce Farniente collection , a true hymn to summer elegance, we unveil a two-piece suit crafted in a mixed fabric straight from the workshops of Cédric Plumey.
This year, it's not the workwear spirit that we're putting in the spotlight, but rather the tailoring spirit that has been so dear to Hast since 2012.
At the top, you will find a dark blue double-breasted jacket in linen and cotton , beautifully striped with tennis stripes. Inspired by the nautical style, reminiscent of the blazer, this unstructured double-breasted jacket boasts a barely fitted straight cut and 9 cm peak lapels to assert its sartorial origins. However, its French fabric of 55% linen and 45% cotton, its natural shoulder line, its reasonable length and its tasty pattern imtely bring it back into a less formal fold.
Flexible and lightweight, it offers a generous range of possibilities , equally capable of evolving with its matching trousers in a dressy style as with jeans , chinos or even shorts in a more casual atmosphere.
At the bottom, pleated trousers cut from the same fabric carefully complete this suit. Made from a 260 g/m² French mixed fabric, they feature the same finishing touches that all dress pants boast: a pronounced long-leg crease, two pairs of pleats, a button-fastened ticket pocket, and an offset-fastening belt.
True to the tailoring atmosphere that reigns here, it has a straight cut and a generous leg opening (21 cm on a size 40) , something that should delight lovers of classic elegance.
However, the touch of originality provided by its contrasting tennis stripes contributes to its versatility and makes it much easier to use in informal settings. Worn without the matching jacket, we can easily imagine it in the company of a t-shirt , a light shirt or a knitted polo shirt , in a chic and uninhibited Riviera style.
The final word
Crafted in eastern France on 1962 shuttle looms, the mixed fabric we used to dress our Pinstripe Suit is a marvel that we owe to the Manufacture Métis. An ode to authenticity and textile craftsmanship, it drapes our ensemble perfectly and adds an extra touch of soul to a piece that certainly wasn't lacking in it.
True to our ambition to develop exceptional clothing for your everyday life , we are happy and proud to offer you this summer suit in the shape of a national treasure.
An exceptional piece to discover now in store and on Hastparis.com .
