For this first collaboration with G.H.BASS, we chose to work around the Larson, one of the historic silhouettes of the Weejuns®. Rather than redesigning its lines, we preferred to intervene where a single detail transforms the look of a shoe: the material.
We started from a version of the Larson that already plays on the vamp's contrast. For this textured effect, we introduced grained leather panels paired with smooth, polished leather. The penny loafer's signature strap echoes this same grained leather, creating a contrast that reveals itself rather than asserting itself.
The construction remains faithful to the fundamentals of the Larson: hand-sewn moccasin, beefroll stitching, Whale Tail strap and Blake welt connecting the upper to a resoleable leather outsole. A traditional way of shoe-making, designed to develop character with wear.
In black, the contrast lies in the textures. An understated interpretation that works as well with pleated trousers as with jeans, yet is restrained enough to wear with a suit.
This style runs large. We recommend choosing half a size smaller than your usual size.
