For this first collaboration with G.H.BASS, we chose to work around the Larson, one of the historic silhouettes of the Weejuns®. Rather than redesigning its lines, we preferred to intervene where a single detail transforms the look of a shoe: the material.
We started from an iteration of the Larson that already plays on the contrast of the vamp. In place of this textured effect, we introduced grained leather panels paired with smooth leather. The iconic penny loafer saddle features the same grained leather, subtly highlighting the model's construction.
The construction remains faithful to the fundamentals of the Larson: hand-stitched loafer, beefroll stitching, Whale Tail saddle, and Blake welt stitching connecting the upper to a resoleable leather outsole. A construction designed to soften with wear, allowing the shoe to gradually gain character.
In this dark chocolate shade, the interplay between smooth and grained leather becomes more apparent. The textural differences catch the light with greater softness, making the loafer easy to pair with ecru, gray, denim, and the browns of an autumn wardrobe.
This style runs large. We recommend choosing half a size smaller than your usual size.
