Winter is coming to an end and you still don't have the sweater that gives you all the comfort and warmth you need? In this article, we guide you through the different types of sweaters suitable for the winter season and give you care tips to preserve their quality and durability.

Wool Sweaters Wool is a natural fiber known for its warmth and ability to regulate body temperature. Merino wool sweaters, for example, offer softness and insulation, while being breathable. They are perfect for cold winter days.

Long live sweaters!

Proper care of your sweaters is essential to ensure their longevity and maintain their appearance.

The maintenance guide

Wool is a delicate natural fiber that can shrink or felt if washed improperly.

Prefer hand washing. In lukewarm water (maximum 30°C) with a mild detergent specially designed for wool, leave your sweater to soak for a few minutes without rubbing, then rinse with clean water.

In the washing machine, with caution, use the "wool" or "delicate" program on a cold cycle (or at 30°C maximum). Choose a very low spin speed (600 rpm maximum). Place your sweater in a net to avoid excessive friction.

Drying should be done flat only. Wet wool is fragile and can lose its shape if hung.

Lay the sweater out on a clean towel, then gently roll it up to absorb excess water. Leave to dry flat on a flat surface, away from any direct heat source (radiators, sun).

The storage

Avoid deformation Fold your wool sweaters rather than hanging them on hangers to preserve their shape. To protect them from moths, place lavender sachets or cedar blocks in your closet.

Preventing and eliminating pilling Repeated friction sometimes causes small balls of wool (pilling) to appear.

Use a lint remover or a special wool comb to gently remove them. Avoid wearing a shoulder bag that would rub against the sweater.

Freshen up your sweater If your wool sweater needs freshening up, airing it outside for a few hours is often enough. Wool is naturally antibacterial and breathes well, which limits odors.

This way, you can enjoy your favorite sweaters for many winters, while maintaining their original look and comfort.
