If you really want to surprise, try patterns or complementary values. Does he often wear gray? Opt for a pretty burgundy or a brighter red. A choice that may seem bold but which, if well thought out, will be all the more appreciated. Are you not sure of his tastes? Then opt for the color that appeals to the greatest number: blue . From sky blue to navy blue, blue is a color that has the advantage of highlighting all faces and is very easy to match. As for patterns, it is better to remain cautious: a plain or finely striped shirt remains the safest choice. A timeless classic is a safe bet.

Beyond the color, the choice of fabric will determine the use of the shirt. A double-twisted poplin will be suitable for a rather formal wear, at work or for a special occasion. Conversely, a velvet shirt will be more casual.

The choice of material also depends on the season: flannel is in fact a particularly recommended material for winter, with its soft and comforting texture while linen will be ideal for summer. Once again, when in doubt, it is better to turn to classics, which will form the basis of the outfit. A denim shirt or a chambray for connoisseurs will always be a good idea, the same for oxford (formal or casual version), which has the advantage of being seasonal.

The collar is the essential part of a shirt, since a shirt without a collar is not a shirt. Same fight as for fabrics: some collars are exclusively reserved for formal use. This is the case of the English collar, a very elegant classic, which particularly highlights the tie thanks to a thin strap at the collar. Wearing a suit is particularly recommended here. The American collar, which is found on our casual shirts (with a pleat), is much less formal, and represents a more spontaneous, casual chic.

Some collars are more versatile, and will depend mainly on how you combine them. We developed our signature collar (semi-cutaway) with the idea that it can be worn alone, with a tie or a bow tie. In another style, but just as easy to combine, the latest collar in our collection, all in subtlety thanks to a system of buttons hidden under the lapel: the collar does not require iron-on adhesive but remains well held. Combined with casual fabrics, this new collection is already essential.

Last but not least, the choice of size. Obviously, it is completely forgivable to make a mistake in the size – which is already less the case when it comes to the style of the shirt. If you are not sure of its size, several options are available to you. The first method (risky) is to do it by eye. This can work on casual shirts, which due to their relaxed cut, require less precision than formal ones. You can also discreetly look at the size of other clothes that suit the person who will receive the gift.
