Le jean selvedge selon Hast

Selvedge denim according to Hast

Read time 2

At Hast, we have always had a soft spot for beautiful materials , those that tell a story even before they are worn.

With our two new jeans , we're taking another step in our quest for a sustainable, desirable, and impeccably crafted wardrobe. Two sister pieces, each with its own character, but driven by the same high standard: to create truly premium denim, without hype, just with expertise.

Exceptional denim, designed to last for years

Woven on shuttle looms from the 1960s , our two jeans revive the tradition of heritage denim. This slow, precise, almost hypnotic weaving process gives rise to the famous red selvedge edge , a discreet but undeniable sign of quality.

An Italian canvas with a strong character

Both made in Portugal , these jeans see their fabric evolve over time, developing an elegant patina to eventually naturally fit your silhouette.

The Candiani 15 1/4 oz . Italian organic cotton selvedge straight-leg jeans are distinguished by a crisp red selvedge, a symbol of exceptional fabrics designed to last. The Candiani 13 oz. Italian cotton and straight-leg blue jeans, on the other hand, feature custom buttons and a subtle stonewashed effect, a tribute to 1970s denim.

A natural and responsible material

Both woven from certified organic cotton or rigid cotton , they are dyed using natural and environmentally friendly processes that are biodegradable and economical in their use of water and energy. In both cases, we remain true to our credo: working with natural materials , favoring clean processes, avoiding synthetic compounds, and honoring quality craftsmanship.

Deliberate rigidity, acquired flexibility

Our two jeans contain no stretch fibers . Their initial stiffness is a sign of quality, not a drawback: like fine leather, the fabric softens and develops a unique character. Already pre-washed from the factory , they won't shrink in the wash. Before the very first wash, we simply suggest avoiding very light color combinations: denim, in its early stages, still tends to show off its color a little too much.

Pieces designed for everyday use

We opted for a straight cut , updated just the right amount. Neither too fitted nor too loose: just the right amount to structure the silhouette, without ever sacrificing comfort. These are jeans you wear as much for their looks as for their flattering fit.

Two interpretations of the same skill

The straight selvedge denim in Italian organic cotton captivates with its intense blue/black hue, achieved through the natural EARTHCOLOR® technology, its dense feel, and its elegant, timeless look. The straight blue denim in Italian cotton offers a different perspective: a medium-dark indigo "Sioux" color, a more pronounced texture, and an instantly assertive personality.
Two shades, two characters, one same ambition: to offer the Hast wardrobe denim that lives up to the rest of our pieces, capable of lasting the distance and maintaining style.

Selvedge, naturally, takes center stage

More than just an aesthetic detail, selvedge is the tangible manifestation of time-honored craftsmanship . It guarantees a dense, impeccably finished, and durable fabric, ready to withstand everyday wear for years to come. It is also proof of a rare and preserved technique that we wanted to highlight.

Jeans that stand the test of time

In creating these two jeans, we wanted a piece that would improve with age, not wear out. A living fabric, an exceptional weave, a perfect cut, a sustainable commitment: everything comes together to make it an essential part of a man's wardrobe , one that you wear without thinking, and that you keep for a long time.
