Le caban : le manteau d’hiver qui conjugue élégance, histoire et exigence

The pea coat: the winter coat that combines elegance, history and high standards

Read time 1

A symbol of endurance and elegance, the pea coat has survived the centuries without leaking. Initially worn as a British sailor's uniform, it gradually became a staple of the men's wardrobe.

At Hast, it offers a first interpretation faithful to our DNA: requirement and durability.

The pea coat according to Hast: the quiet strength of winter

Marine heritage, urban allure

Our pea coat is directly inspired by period models, while infusing it with a contemporary requirement. It is made from a Portuguese fabric in 100% natural wool , weighing 490 g/m² (750 g/mL in gross weight). A dense and breathable material, certified OEKO-TEX® and Mulesing Free , for controlled warmth without compromising on comfort.

Its double-breasted placket is reminiscent of naval uniforms, while its brushed cotton-lined wrist rests demonstrate the careful finishing touches. Under the collar, a subtle touch: a heather gray wool-viscose undercollar, a discreet contrast that underlines the refinement of the piece.

A straight and confident cut

With its 76.5 cm back length (size M) , it creates a confident silhouette without being stiff. Designed to face winter, it stands out with a straight and structured cut, creating a confident silhouette without being rigid. Worn over a suit , it extends the elegant line, over a wool sweater and denim , it becomes a traveling companion, protective and confident.

The art of lasting

Like most of our wardrobe, this pea coat is made in Europe . We always favor natural and sustainable materials, guaranteeing a piece that will develop a patina without deteriorating. Like the brand, it embodies this meeting between tailoring tradition and reasoned modernity, far from fashion effects and ephemeral seasons.

An exceptional garment, selected to last, like the gesture of those who wear it.

The final word

In short, a coat that says a lot without overdoing it.

A classic of the open sea, designed for urban winters and men who know that elegance begins with the right simplicity.
