Le caban : le manteau d’hiver qui conjugue élégance, histoire et exigence

The pea coat: the winter coat that combines elegance, history and exacting standards

1 min read

A symbol of endurance and elegance, the pea coat has weathered the centuries without taking on water. First a uniform garment for British sailors, it gradually became one of the pillars of the men's wardrobe.

At Hast, it takes on an initial interpretation faithful to our DNA: exacting standards and durability.

The Hast pea coat: winter's quiet strength

Maritime heritage, urban allure

Our pea coat draws directly on period models, while bringing a contemporary exactingness to them. It is made from Portuguese fabric in 100% natural wool, weighing 490 g/m² (750 g/mL gross weight). A dense, breathable material, certified OEKO-TEX® and Mulesing Free, for controlled warmth without compromising on comfort.

Its double-breasted fastening recalls naval uniforms, while its brushed cotton-lined cuff tabs reflect the care given to the finishing touches. Beneath the collar, a subtle detail: a mottled grey wool-viscose undercollar, a discreet contrast that underscores the refinement of the piece.

A confident regular fit

With its 76,5 cm back length (size M), it creates a confident silhouette without stiffness. Designed to face winter, it stands out for its regular fit and structured cut, creating an assured silhouette without rigidity. Worn over a suit, it extends an elegant line; over a wool jumper and denim, it becomes a dependable, protective companion.

The art of lasting

Like most of our wardrobe, this pea coat is made in Europe. We always favour natural, durable materials, ensuring a piece that will develop a patina without losing its character. Like the brand itself, it embodies the meeting of tailoring tradition and considered modernity, far from passing trends and fleeting seasons.

An exceptional garment, chosen to last, like the gesture of those who wear it.

A final word

In short, a coat that says a great deal without overdoing it.

A classic of the high seas, cut for urban winters and men who know that elegance begins with the right simplicity.
