Comment prendre soin de ses habits en lin ?

How to take care of your linen clothes?

Read time 1

Linen is the perfect material for summer—light, breathable, and naturally elegant. At HAST, we love this fiber for its authenticity and its ability to seamlessly transition through the seasons. But like any quality piece, linen deserves a little TLC to ensure it lasts and retains its beauty.

Here are our tips for taking care of your linen clothing, whether shirts, pants or jackets, so you can finally feel comfortable wearing linen.

1. Gentle wash, to preserve the fiber

Linen is durable, but prefers softness. Wash by hand or machine at a low temperature (maximum 30°C) using a delicate cycle. Avoid harsh detergents, which can weaken the fiber and dull the colors.

2. Proper drying

To maintain the natural shape of linen, avoid tumble drying, which can make it stiff and fragile. After washing, gently wring out your garment and let it dry flat or hang in the open air, away from direct sunlight to prevent discoloration.

3. Ironing: the final touch

Linen loves warmth, but be careful not to burn the fabric. Iron your clothes while they're still slightly damp with a hot iron (between 150 and 200°C), possibly using a thin cloth between the iron and the garment. This smooths the fibers while preserving their natural shine.

4. Store carefully

Linen, like all natural fabrics, needs to breathe. Store shirts and jackets on hangers, or neatly folded pants in a drawer. This prevents creases and keeps the fabric fresh.

In summary

Caring for your linen garments is a simple ritual that extends their lifespan and natural beauty. With a little attention to washing, drying, and ironing, your linen pieces will remain lightweight, elegant, and durable, season after season.
