Who doesn't have at least one
cotton t-shirt in their wardrobe? This ultra-common piece has undoubtedly become, since the second half of the 20th century, the most representative
garment of our time. Flocked, colorful, low-cut, fitted, oversized, long-sleeved, short-sleeved, in cotton, synthetic, round neck or V-neck, it has become polymorphous and invades all professions, all social bodies. How to find your way through this plethora of offers? At Hast, we have chosen to return to the basic of basics, the t-shirt that we wear with everything, in all seasons, and that suits everyone. And the fabric of the
t-shirt par excellence is of course cotton. So discover here how we dreamed up, thought of and designed our cotton t-shirt.
A material with multiple qualities
There's no need to introduce the countless qualities of cotton. First, it's one of the most comfortable of all fabrics. Lightweight and airy, it can be worn in any circumstance, whether in the city or the countryside, or for sports. Above all, cotton t-shirts are very low-allergy, especially when they're organic. It's a fabric that doesn't itch and feels like a second skin. Another quality, which is not unrelated to the previous one: ease of washing. Cotton can be machine-washed without any problem at 30 or even 40 (read the label before washing), which makes it easy to eliminate bacteria.
In addition, it is easy to iron with a hot iron, and if it is well hung after washing, it can even be worn without ironing. We are therefore dealing with a soft and comfortable material, which can be worn as underwear during the winter as well as clothing in the summer.
Quality: our top priority
While there are countless advantages to a cotton t-shirt, it's important that it meets a number of essential quality criteria. The first of these is thickness. The fabric
weight must be both thick and light enough to combine strength and breathability. Indeed, you've probably noticed that fast-fashion t-shirts tend to curl, lose their shape (especially at the collar) and their color after a few washes. This is because the industry has tended to reduce this famous t-shirt weight, making it extremely thin and transparent. At Hast, we've therefore opted for 160g/m², the ideal ratio for a cotton t-shirt that's tough but still light and comfortable. We've also made a special effort with the ribbed crew neck to ensure it won't move over time.
Responsible manufacturing
Our t-shirts are fully in line with our environmental commitments by meeting the criteria of the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards) label. This label ensures that the ecological and social conditions of manufacturing are as virtuous as possible. Above all, our cotton t-shirts are organic, and therefore pesticide-free. Best of all, our t-shirts are made in Portugal: they don't travel halfway around the world to end up in your wardrobe.
How to wear a cotton t-shirt?
It's precisely its versatility that makes the cotton t-shirt so essential. Worn with
chinos and a light
jacket , it's a great replacement for a shirt for a casual chic look. Under a
sweater or cardigan in winter, it becomes a comfortable layer that lets the skin breathe. In summer, it's enough on its own, paired with linen shorts or lightweight cotton pants. A good cotton t-shirt can also structure a minimalist look: white on raw denim, black on beige straight pants, ecru under an overshirt. Provided, of course, that you opt for impeccable quality. And to vary the textures while maintaining the same level of comfort, we also offer
cotton and linen t-shirts .
