With his confidence and determination, one easily gives him a few more years. Yet Thomas is only 26. It must be said that this young notary handles social codes with natural ease. Yet what he eagerly awaits each week is the return to the Norman fields, where he spent his childhood. Between sartorial style and country life, meet one of our longest-standing customers.
Could you introduce yourself?
Thomas, a 26-year-old Norman working in Paris while waiting for Friday and the return to the fields. I arrived in Paris 10 years ago to study, and since then I have divided my time between the capital’s mad energy and the restful calm of Normandy, where I spent my entire childhood.
What do you do for work?
I have been a notary in the 15th arrondissement for 4 years now.
So you work in a shirt. And at the weekend?
I used to wear a shirt all the time, but since I started working, at weekends I dress any old way. Always the same light-blue Levi’s jeans, with boots for the fields or red or blue Nike Air Force Ones, and almost always the same kind of top — T-shirt or polo shirt.
When I was a student, I only wore shirts, but none of them really fitted me. When I started working, I had to find pieces that fitted well, in my size. I discovered Hast through its shirts, and since then I have bought almost all my shirts from you. The cut suits my build perfectly, the sleeve length... and the quality is there too.
How would you define your style?
During the week, it feels like Suits, but with a more sartorial, less formulaic touch. Always in a shirt, suit and tie, impeccably turned out. Well, I try! I would also really like to see silk ties at Hast. At the weekend: farmer. Let’s say that I used to have a style. But since I have to work in a shirt every day, I make no effort at all outside work; I am more relaxed, it is tracksuits and trainers. It is certainly also due to the change of city: Parisian elegance and Norman simplicity.
You wear a great many shirts. What is an important criterion when choosing a shirt?
An important criterion for me in a shirt is the collar. The number of shirts whose collars rippled after a few washes and became unwearable... I pay close attention to the design, size, width, etc. But really, the most important thing is making sure the collar is impeccable and that the brand uses good fusible interlining, which will not come unstuck at the slightest burst of heat.
How did you discover Hast?
In fact, I no longer remember at all how I came to try Hast shirts. It was a few years ago, 2013 at the latest, since I started working in 2014. I no longer know whether a friend told me about them or whether I saw them on social ... but the fact is, I have been wearing them for almost 5 years!
What makes the brand interesting, in your view?
The shirts are perfectly suited to my build; they are the only ones that fit me this well. And the value for money is unbeatable.
I like my shirts fitted, not too loose, without being too tight either. I found the cut that suited me best. And the brand really tries to adapt to every body shape, with different cuts and sleeve lengths. I think that is cool, even if personally, I am happy with the classic cut!
Why did you want to take part in the shoot?
I have been wearing your shirts for a very long time and, when you put out the call for the shoot, I was having professional photos taken for work and thought it was not all that complicated. At the time I was wearing a Hast shirt, I liked the concept and thought it was fun — I took it as a sign! But honestly, I did not think I would be selected.
How did you experience the day?
It was an excellent time with lots of really lovely people! Perhaps a career change is in order (laughs).
